Feel the Difference
Between the Mainstream Approach
and the Organic Way!
Whether you are an Emerging Change Catalyst or a Seasoned Change Catalyst, you have likely learned about building your business in various ways. You may have taken a variety of marketing courses, attended workshops, enrolled in a mentoring program, or signed up for business coaching. I refer to as the Mainstream Approach to Building a Business.
How Do You Feel When Using the Mainstream Approach
Recently I sent out a survey to ten of my current and recent clients to ask how they felt when they relied on the Mainstream Approach to build their business. Some of these clients have worked with me for a few weeks while others have worked with me for over five years.
This word cloud reflects the words they used to describe their experience when using the Mainstream Approach to build their business. Do you resonate with any of the words in this word cloud?
These Words Tell the same story I heard in 2016!
In 2016 I interviewed colleagues to learn what they experienced in Mainstream workshop. I heard the same story! They told me how inadequate they felt, how overwhelmed they were with everything they were supposed to do, and how disconnected they felt from their work, their business, and themselves.
Later that summer, I invited these colleagues to participate in a focus group to explore my early insights about why we all had this experience. Hearing each other’s stories was healing for all of us! For the first time, we knew we weren’t alone. We shared our frustrations, our sense of failure, and the discomfort we felt whenever we tried to implement Mainstream Strategies to market our services or enroll new clients.
As that focus group ended, I made a commitment to myself and my colleagues to:
Understand why we felt so out of sync with the Mainstream Approach. (You can read more details here.)
Find a new way to create, develop, and grow a business that aligns with our values and personal style.
The Organic Way Is a New Approach
I’ve dedicated the last eight years to understanding this Organic Way to create, develop, and grow a flourishing business. In addition to the interviews and focus groups I used to deepen my understanding of what wasn’t working for Change Catalysts, I have also worked with numerous clients, facilitated on going mentoring groups, led workshops, and guided retreats.
As with my Seasons of Change and my career clarity work earlier in my business, I have been my own first client. I have taken note of my own experiences, discovered new strategies, and tested various ideas through pilot programs with clients and small groups. I have taken note of trends, spotted themes, and listened to feedback from my clients. I continue to discover new layers, nuances, and insights that deepen my understanding of the Organic Way culture and methods.
What started as a few disconnected thoughts back in 2016 is now a robust model that provides my clients with gentle, encouraging, and incremental steps to gain clarity, develop confidence, and boost their momentum. I call this approach the Organic Way.
When I asked my current clients what they experience when they used the Organic Way to guide their business growth, this is what they shared:
If you compare the two word clouds, you can see that my clients have a completely different experience when they use the Organic Way as their guide.
The Organic Way offers a wealth of insights for both Emerging and Seasoned Change Catalysts.
